Santa was here!

Rory has had such a fun time with all the Christmas happenings this year.  She has been a bit confused, though!  It started with a trip to the mall to visit Santa.  After watching several kids before us scream and cry at the sight of Santa, Rory hopped right up on his lap and said, "Hi Santa.  I want a doll house."  She was so good, even wishing him a Merry Christmas and giving him a hug, but once she got off his lap, she thought she was going to be receiving her doll house right then.  When I tried to explain that Santa would be coming to our house on Christmas and maybe he would leave her a doll house, she said, "But it IS Christmas time!"  Apparently, she thought the entire month of December was Christmas because I have heard this over and over for the last few weeks!

A picture with Santa…we paid a whole $11 for this nice photo.  I didn't even attempt trying to fix it in photoshop.

Christmas Eve finally came, and as we drove home from grandpa and grandma's house, we were telling Rory that Santa was on his way, and we had to get home and in bed so that he could leave her gifts under the tree.  When we got home, she was upset that he wasn't there.  She wanted to see him!  She woke up the next morning with the same expectations that she was going to actually get to see Santa.  Again, a little confused.  But the disappointment went away when she got downstairs to see what he had left for her!

One guess what it was!

She's been obsessed with gum lately, so imagine her surprise when she found this in her stocking.  Her reaction was, "Santa know I like gum!  Sank you Santa!"

It's been so much fun this year seeing her excitement about all things Christmas!  Even if it has taken a lot of explaining.  I haven't had my camera out much just because I've been trying to just spend my time enjoying it all with her, rather than from behind the camera.  It has been kind of nice, but I am ready to get back into it.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and is enjoying a little time off like we are.  Now, if I could only get some motivation to clean the house after the holiday mess!

Merry Christmas from our family!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas!  The images below are from our Christmas card.  I couldn't find any good way to share them, so this will have to do!  God bless!

Sneek peak

I got Rory out last Friday for a photo shoot for our Christmas cards.  It was my last chance, seeing how on Saturday we got tons of snow and have had sub-zero temps since.  I had about 15 minutes, and I managed to get some good shots, but I don't want to share until the cards are officially sent and received.  This will do for now.  I just love everything about those cheeks!  They look the same as they did the day she was born.

I think it’s safe to say

that we have a big girl in our house now!  Rory is officially potty trained!  Actually, we have been working on it for awhile now, but I didn't want to say anything until she went a few weeks accident-free.  She did awesome with #1, but had a little trouble with #2.  I think she has it all down now, though!  And can I just say that she has the cutest little butt without that puffy diaper on!

The potty chart I made for her is now pretty full of stickers.  I took this photo back in November when we first started.

I’m still alive!

Wow, I have been missing from this blog!  I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving!  We were gone Wednesday through Sunday in Montana for the holiday, and both before I left and since I've been back I have been a) not feeling well due to some cold/sinus thing, which has now turned into a nagging cough b) swamped with photography related stuff and c) crazy busy trying to keep my household afloat…piles of laundry, cleaning, all that fun stuff.  Right now, I am sitting waiting for the last of my orders to go through to the lab, so I thought I'd jump on real quick.

Since I really have no new photos to share, I thought I'd participate in yet another tag from my friend Sarah.  This one is kind of fun.  I have to post some photos from my first four months of blogging and tell the story behind them.  Well, I actually haven't been blogging for long, only since this spring, but in going back I had so many I wanted to post.  I was reminded that we had a really fun summer this year, and that definitely put a smile on my face.

Ultimately, I chose to post the following photos because it was an out of the ordinary day that I got to spend home with Rory because her daycare was closed.  While I hate using up my precious vacation time from work, I secretly look forward to days when daycare is closed and we have nobody to watch Rory.  I love spending the days with her, and although there are some days when she can be a pill and my rope is wearing thin by the end of the day, I really try not to take any of the days I can spend at home with her for granted.  This was definitely one of those days.  It was simply a perfect mother-daughter day, filled with a little shopping, lunch out, just me and her, and an afternoon at the pool.  It was the first time she'd ever been to the pool, and she had so much fun.  I loved watching the expressions on her face as she ran through the splash area, and there wasn't one woman within a 10 foot radius of us in the pool who didn't comment on how cute she was!  I tried to talk her into a break from swimming to get an ice cream treat, and she refused.  You know she was having fun if she turned down ice cream!  My girl is a sugar monster, no doubt!

And now in looking back at these, I realize how much she's grown up since then.  She has lost the puffy diaper butt and the baby tummy!  Kind of makes me sad.

I don't know who to pass this tag onto, so if you're reading this and want to take a trip down memory lane, you can follow suit!  Be sure to leave me a comment so that I know to go check it out!
