Newborn Sessions – FAQ
When should I book my newborn session?
My schedule fills up sometimes months in advance, so it is always best to book your session as soon as possible! Many of my clients have sent me a note about their pregnancy before they even told their family to make sure that they have a spot on my calendar! While I love being privy to such exciting news, it is not required to let me know that far in advance; sometime in the second trimester is great!
Do you do maternity sessions?
Yes! I offer the option of a mini maternity session add-on when you book your newborn session. Details can be found in the newborn session guide!
Since we don’t know for sure when our baby will arrive, how can we schedule our newborn session?
It is very important that your newborn session take place within the first two weeks after your baby’s birth. When you book your session with me, your spot in my schedule is reserved and your due date is on my calendar. Once your baby has officially arrived, you will contact me and at that time we will set up an actual date and time for the session, usually about a week after your baby’s birthday!
Where will our newborn session take place?
All newborn sessions are held at my in-home studio located in northeast Bismarck.
What are your newborn sessions like?
You can expect the session to last 1½ -3 hours. There will be plenty of time for feedings, soothing, and cleanups, as needed. I will work to capture a variety of images of your newborn posed on several different backgrounds, with a prop (if baby allows), and with your family if you’d like. If sibling shots are desired, we will do those shots first and then I encourage you to have someone available to take the siblings home after they are done. Since the session can be lengthy, it is much less stressful if siblings are allowed to leave for the remainder of the session.
Do I need to provide anything for the session?
I will have plenty of props and accessories for your baby’s session, but if you have any special blankets, hats or other items that you would like included, please feel free to bring them and I will incorporate them as time allows.
How much will our session cost? What’s included in the session fee?
The newborn session fee is $250 and is due at the time of booking to secure your spot in my schedule. The session fee is non-refundable and it covers my time before, during and after the session as well as the many props and accessories that are used during your newborn session. This fee does not include any prints, digital files or products. Clients typically invest a minimum of $800 on their session and many invest upwards of $2000.
Can I see a full pricing details?
Yes, a full pricing details can be found in the Maternity & Newborn Session Guide.
Will you photograph my baby’s entire first year?
Yes, The First Year plan is perfect for documenting the significant growth that your baby makes throughout his or her first year. I LOVE watching my clients grow! Complete details on The First Year can also be found in the Maternity & Newborn Session Guide.
