a colorful 6th birthday party | bismarck child photographer

Wow, these photos are long overdue!  We had Rory’s 6th birthday party early this year, and she was able to invite all the little girls in her class.  There was much anticipation leading up to the big day, and the party did not disappoint!  While I was exhausted by the end of the two hours, Rory had SO much fun!  Months ago, Rory had declared that she wanted to have a rainbow birthday party, and all throughout the planning, she was insistent that every detail be all about rainbows.  I did my best to accomplish that, and this was probably one of the most fun party themes I’ve done so far.  You can’t help but be happy when you’re working with rainbows!

We held the party at Sweet Treats Cupcake Bar & Bakery, which is a fairly new bakery in downtown Bismarck, and it was perfect for a group of a dozen silly girls.

It was a challenge to come up with a way to decorate a small space in a small amount of time, and I may have still tried to cram too much in, but it was all so cute I didn’t know where to stop!  Here are lots of photos of all the details.

The girls each had beads at their place to make a rainbow bracelet with their own name.

They also had a personalized place mat that served as a coloring page.  If I know anything about kindergarten girls…they love coloring!

Rachel at Sweet Treats was so kind and accommodating to our chaos.  She helped clean up spills and listened to the noise with a smile on her face.  She brought us some delicious cupcakes and each girl got to choose from a number of toppings to flavor and decorate their cupcakes.  Here she is explaining all the options to the girls!

Rory loves cupcakes, but she also loves ice cream, so we couldn’t have a party without that!  She had eaten her cupcake before we had a chance to blow out her candle, so the ice cream stood in for an alternate.

The rainbow Twizzlers were a perfect party favor, and each girl also went home with a rainbow flower hair clip and some stickers…rainbow ones, of course!

So, after all of that fun, what do you think Rory said was the best part of the day?  When we got home, we opened this little box that Rachel had sent home with us, and when she saw what was inside, I think her exact words were, “BEST DAY EVER!”

If you’re wondering, yes, they were as yummy as they look!  Thank you Rachel and Sweet Treats for helping make Rory’s day so sweet!
