What a weekend

Whew!  I had a busy and exhausting weekend, but I had a great time.  We left early (I mean, really early) Friday morning, and got into Salt Lake City at around 10:00.  We spent most of the day walking around an awesome outdoor mall with every store imaginable.  I was so amazed by everything in SLC.  The whole downtown has such character.  All the old buildings are well kept with little shops in them.  We went to an old trolley station that has been converted into a mall, and I could not stop oohing and awing over the place.  Josey was in heaven because we ate at a Brazilian steakhouse where they bring around skewers of any kind of meat you can imagine and serve it to you at your request.  That evening we went to Deep Sea 3D at the Imax theater, which was really cool.

On Saturday, I went to a photography workshop, and it was even better than I had hoped.  It was awesome to learn so much from photographers I admire, and it was really nice to be around others who I have photography in common with.  I just cannot say enough how much I enjoyed myself.  They had arranged for about a dozen kids of all ages to be models for us, and we got the chace to test out our new skills.  There were about 30 photographers to about 12 kids, so it was kind of hard for me to keep the models' attention before they were looking at someone else, but it was still a great experience, and I manged to get a few that I liked.  (You might want to click on them to see them bigger.  Not sure why, but they look a little funny on my screen in the blog.)

We got back into Bismarck yesterday at about 12:30, and grandpa and grandma surprised us by bringing Rory to meet us at the airport.  They were waiting right at the door, and the look on Rory's face when she saw us was absolutely priceless.  Too sweet for words.  I missed my bubby, but I also had a good time away.
