It has been so long since I’ve shared with you all some photos of my babies. Er, I mean, big kids! Something crazy happened this year. Suddenly I became a mom with two school-aged kids, and it has changed my life. It really has. There is an incredible the amount of growth that happens when a child starts school, and I remember when I downloaded these images for the first time, I looked at Cohen and thought, “Wow, what just happened here?” He started talking differently, started acting more grown up, and by gosh, he LOOKS different, too! And since summer, Rory has drastically changed in looks, too. It can all be attributed to those permanent teeth. This summer she was a toothless little girl, and now I can practically envision how she will look the day she graduates high school. Some days, looking back at photos, my heart does ache a bit, wondering where my babies went. But for the most part, I am very much enjoying these big kids. I enjoy the conversations we have, the time spent together being much less work than it ever was before, and most of all, I enjoy really getting to know who my children are and who they are becoming.
We had high hopes this year to have our family photos taken by my friend Erin, but unfortunately our plans were rained out. In need of photos for our annual Christmas card, these were a spur of the moment decision when we had an unexpected warm evening at the end of October. I set out for “just a couple” and came home with not only a lot of photos, but also a fun memory of this unbelievably beautiful night spent with my big kids!
