Any time I book a newborn session, I put the baby’s due date in my calendar. I love seeing those due dates pop up on my phone in the morning. What better way to start out your day than with the thought of another little miracle entering this world? It is even better when I know the exact induction or c-section date just because I am super impatient, and knowing when these things are happening gives me a satisfaction and thrill like no other! Well, on the day baby Gus was born, I just about couldn’t stand to wait to hear the news that he had made his way into the world and into the arms of his parents. The birth of this baby was just a little more exciting for me because I knew that Gus’s parents had been waiting for him for quite some time. This session was a very special one because it was my first Red Thread Session.
Red Thread Sessions is a group of photographers all around the country who donate their time and talents to give the gift of portraits to adoptive families. I have been a volunteer for about a year now, but have never had the opportunity to photograph an adoptive family yet, so I was thrilled when this family told me that they were expecting their son to be born very soon! In the time I spent with them during the session, it was obvious that Gus was meant to be their son all along.
