Another ten day old! It must be the magic number. This baby boy was absolute perfection. There are so many things I love about newborn sessions, but one of them is hearing the new mom (and often times family visitors), as they watch me work with their baby, ooh and awe over how cute they are. It puts a huge smile on my face, and makes me even that much more excited to get home and get their gallery edited! I can’t say I disagree; he is pretty cute!View full post »
Another sweet newborn. This job will never get old! Even with all the hard work, time, and patience that goes into getting these images, I would shoot a newborn every day if I could.
I met Kwinn when she was ten days old, and it was obvious that her parents adore her! And I was surprised to find that her mommy was actual an old friend of mine! So it was a double bonus to get to reconnect with her, and to also snuggle this bundle of cuteness. This family is beautiful, and even more so nowView full post »
I still remember the day she was born. As a thirteen year old, sitting at the hospital for what seemed like three years waiting for her to come into this world, I had no patience but I remember it being one of the most exciting days of my life since it was my first cousin on that side of my family. Seventeen years ago, I was changing her diapers; last weekend I was taking her senior portraits. I don’t think I would have ever seen that one coming! She has grown to be such a beautifulView full post »
I’ve been waiting two months to share this giveaway and now that the time has come, I couldn’t be more excited about it! I am always amazed at some of the incredibly talented people we have living here in Bismarck, and any time I get to meet one of them, it is a treat for me. A couple months ago, I was approached by one of Bismarck’s talents, Katie Moon, about trading her talents for mine, and I was instantly all for it. Katie is an amazingly talented illustrator and, ofView full post »
I was so excited for this session in more than one way. First, I was able to photograph Leah when she was just three weeks old, and she had just turned one before this session. It is so amazing to see how much can change in just one short year! Second, it was March and the weather forecast was saying we’d reach 80 degrees. And we did! It was so weird to be shooting an outdoor session in March, but I loved it, and I just adore some of the images of this family.

I love that now that she’s a little older, she actually likes having her photo taken. While Erin and Juila were here and I had the backgrounds set up, I wanted to get some photos of Rory for her Valentine cards this year. Pink and purple are her favorite colors! She had been asking me to flat iron her hair for awhile, so I did, and wow she looks so much different to me. And I think she looks so much older with straight hair, which is not a good thing! Erin took some shots of her,View full post »
Last weekend was so much fun! I got to spend some time with this baby girl and her mama, my good friend Erin. I am not going to complain that they now live much closer…hopefully we will get to see them more often now! And I will never turn down a chance to photograph this sweet face. Julia is such a happy baby, and I can’t believe how much she’s grown since I saw her last fall. At one point during the session, Rory came over and Julia just burst into giggles. Here they are! Thank you all so much for all the hard work in getting votes from your family and friends, and for all of the comments! I was expecting many compliments on all of the beautiful children and families we have here in Bismarck (and that I’ve been lucky enough to photograph!), but did not expect all the wonderful comments about my work. I am humbled; thank you!
So, let’s get right down to it. Totalling well over 600 votes, the competition was fierce!

Now that winter is here, I’ve found some time for some projects around my house. One of the main ones was to work on giving our basement family/play room a little, much-needed makeover. Because of the foundation, we have this weird ledge down there making it difficult to decorate around. I decided that I wanted to do a grouping of gallery wrapped canvases down there, and rather than hanging them, I’d figured I’d try to use the ledge to my advantage and lean them on there.
