1st day of kindergarten

It went off without a hitch!  It sounds like she had a great day.  She was a bit cranky this evening on the way home, but once we got some food in her and a little down time, she had all sorts of stories to tell and even a new song to sing. It was so funny, this morning, I wanted to make sure to get a couple of photos of her before we left.  I figured I’d spare her the embarrassment of me bringing the big camera to the school.  Last year when she started pre-k (ugh, look how muchView full post »

the day before kindergarten

Oh, what a week.  Tomorrow marks another huge milestone in the life of our Rory Jean; the first day of kindergarten.  It seems like that is all we’ve talked about for the last month, and it has been so exciting, but this week everything has come so fast.  I am feeling overwhelmed by all of the details.  Forms, fees, lunch tickets, drop off’s, after school programs, dress codes.  I have put it all off in hopes of remaining in denial as long as possible, but now I think I am behind,View full post »

time for tea | bismarck, north dakota children’s photographer

Her “purple blankie” was given to her by her grandma when she was first born.  Who knew she’d grow so attached to it?  Kitty is from our very first trip to Barnes and Noble together.  She had just learned to walk, and she walked right up to the first shelf she saw that was at her level, grabbed the kitty, and refused to let go.  So he came home with us, and he has slept in her bed ever since.  Hunny Bunny was given to her by the Easter bunny on her first Easter.  AnotherView full post »

american girls | bismarck, nd child and family photographer

The main reason for our girls trip to the Mall of America was to visit the American Girl store.  Rory received her own American Girl doll for her 5th birthday, and she had been looking forward to our trip for months.  I must admit, I was pretty excited, too!  It was such an experience taking her there, and I can’t say it enough times; it is something I will never forget.  I didn’t get any time to really take any images of us shopping in the store, but while we were there, Juliet gotView full post »

mall of america adventures | bismarck, nd child photographer

So, as I mentioned in my last post, we’ve had all sorts of exciting things happening.  One of those was our big girls’ trip to the Mall of America.  We had such a wonderful time together, and I could not think of a better way to celebrate Rory turning five.  I will never forget the amazing time we had together.  {Warning: I know the quality of these photos is not that great, but I still love them anyway.  I was not about to carry my camera all over the mall.}  Some snapshots andView full post »

happy 5th birthday, rory! | bismarck, nd family photographer

My sweet girl turned five today!  Pretty crazy!  We celebrated most of the day yesterday, and once again, she didn’t have any fun at all.  Can’t you tell?  We started out with a little party with a few of her friends.  They were so silly together!  Entertainment included making bracelets, coloring mermaids, eating cupcakes and fruity floats (orange and raspberry sherbert plus sprite), and a punching balloon fight!  Then, later that night, we had our family over to celebrate someView full post »

happy easter! | bismarck, nd family photographer

Well, it is becoming a tradition for me to blog photos from our egg dying every year.  I always love looking back on photos of the kids doing something annually.  It is just fun to see how much has changed in only a year.  This was Cohen’s first year dying eggs, so to say the process has changed this year is an understatment!  They both took it very seriously, and were sad when all the eggs were colored. So to begin, here are the photos from 2009, 2010, and 2011… I hopeView full post »

the butterfly ball | bismarck, nd child photographer

Rory attended the Butterfly Ball last weekend, which is a daddy/daughter dance sponsored by the Suzuki School of Music.  There was a lot of talk and excitement leading up to the day.  Anyone who reads this blog knows what a princess obsessed, girly-girl Rory is.  I let her pick out her own dress and shoes at Target, and when Saturday came, she wanted to put them on first thing in the morning!  It turns out, the Butterfly Ball did not disappoint.  She had a blast with her daddy and was soView full post »

peeee doh | bismarck, nd photographer

Today, I was downloading some images from a recent session, and I started to feel bad looking through all of my cards because they were full of images of my kids from the last two months.  Just sitting there, not really forgotten, but definitely neglected.  I had to document these on my blog, though, because they show the result of what is a big milestone for every little boy…the first busted open head wound!  You know, I am actually surprised it has taken this long.  Cohen is nothingView full post »
