Well, we had been waiting for snow, and I’m still not sure if that is ever going to happen in Bismarck this year, so we finally gave in and just went for this shoot. After all the warm weather we’ve had, it was actually quite cold and windy on this day…of course. Even without having the ideal weather conditions, I loved the images we got in the 10 or 15 minutes we were out there. I’m so looking forward to their wedding this spring! View full post »
Here they are! Thank you all so much for all the hard work in getting votes from your family and friends, and for all of the comments! I was expecting many compliments on all of the beautiful children and families we have here in Bismarck (and that I’ve been lucky enough to photograph!), but did not expect all the wonderful comments about my work. I am humbled; thank you!
So, let’s get right down to it. Totalling well over 600 votes, the competition was fierce!

EDIT: Apparantly, I’m still living in 2011. I meant for this to end Thursday so that I could announce the winners on Friday. The dates have been changed to reflect that. The voting will end on Thursday, January 12 at 9 pm CST. Sorry about the confusion!
It’s time for my photo of the year contest! I just love putting this together because it is so much fun looking back through a year’s worth of photos, reminiscing about each session with my amazing clients and, onceView full post »
Now that winter is here, I’ve found some time for some projects around my house. One of the main ones was to work on giving our basement family/play room a little, much-needed makeover. Because of the foundation, we have this weird ledge down there making it difficult to decorate around. I decided that I wanted to do a grouping of gallery wrapped canvases down there, and rather than hanging them, I’d figured I’d try to use the ledge to my advantage and lean them on there. As I said in my last post, I’m doing a little rewind. After getting a horrible stomach bug (like just about half of Bismarck), my Christmas was spent mostly on the couch, so I didn’t get a chance to share these with you when I had originally planned. Please close your eyes and imagine that today is Christmas. Okay, now open your eyes, and take a look at how adorable these little Milbradt’s are! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas…sans the flu!View full post »
REWIND! Okay, so just for a minute, let’s pretend that Christmas has not already come and gone. Because I was planning to share this before Christmas, but then, well, Christmas came and everything was crazy busy and it didn’t happen. I thought it would be okay to wait until Christmas day, but it turns out Santa brought our family the stomach flu that has been going around Bismarck, and then absolutely nothing has been accomplished at my house ever since. So…

I am always excited to spend some time snuggling newborns during a session, but I didn’t get to do much of that with this one because he slept perfectly almost the entire time! Of course, I think all newborns are special, but when it dawned on me that he was born on the best day of the year, I knew this little guy was going to be extra awesome. I guess now, I not only share a birthday with my husband, but one of my little clients, too! Here are some of my favorites!

This was it! My last family session of the season, and we had another gorgeous day in Bismarck! I was skeptical, thinking there was no way we’d be lucky enough to have sunshine and nice tempuratures all the way until the end of October, but we had the most beautiful fall here in North Dakota. All of the perfect fall days, along with great families like this, made my job super easy and fun this year. I’m sad it’s over!
Thank you to the F family for a great session. It wasView full post »
This week, I’m going to be wrapping up blog posts on the last couple of wonderful families I was able to work with this year. I should total up how many family sessions I did…it was a lot more than usual, and that makes me really happy. It is always so great to see mom and dad in some photos with their children!
We were so lucky to have such beautiful weather for this session, and this family was so fun. These girls are just beautiful! Taylar was so sweet and quiet, and HaileyView full post »
