dawson & carson

I had so much fun with these brothers!  It isn’t often that I work with siblings who have more than a couple years between them, and it was so sweet to see them interact together.  I loved how Dawson tried so hard to get Carson to participate in the photo shoot, which, for a two year old, was probably the last thing on his mind!  And they were so handsome in their colorful ties!  Don’t you agree?

gaege and his family

I always get so excited when a past client contacts me again for family photos.  It is such an honor to be given the opportunity to capture anyone, but my absolute favorite is capturing a family because it is such a special thing to see the relationship between people who love one another most come through my camera.  Especially the relationship a mother or a father has with their child.  If I’ve been reminded of anything in the past few months, having a two year old at home myself, it is that two year olds have their own ideas on how a situation is going to go, and this little guy had his own idea of how this session was going to (or not going to) go!  (I think maybe he knew there was a birthday party and a bounce house that sounded much more fun coming up later that day?!)  I had in my mind the shots that I wanted to get, but they were obviously not going to happen.  Yet, when I came home and downloaded these images I was SO happy.  Even in a situation where this two year old was not thrilled to be photographed, you can still see, so clearly, how much he really loves his mom and dad.  Better yet, how much his mom and dad love him!

Thank you so much to the G family for, once again, giving me the opportunity to capture your family this year!

This one is such a dad photo!  I love it!

levi | 11 days old

I always get so excited when someone contacts me for a newborn session.  Not just for selfish reasons because I can’t deny that I would do anything to snuggle a newborn for a couple hours every day, but also because it is the most special time.  Those first few weeks when all babies do is eat and sleep.  And while you are usually at home not doing much but feeding and changing your baby, and sleeping yourself, that time goes by SO quickly.  And in a matter of just three or four weeks, they barely look like the same person.  In fact, one of my favorite parts of doing newborn sessions is when I get to drop off the client’s order and see just how much that baby has changed.  It’s simply amazing what can happen in 2-3 weeks!

I usually try to do newborn sessions within 7-10 days after the birth because babies are so cooperative at that time.  They are still nice and sleepy, and things usually go very smoothly.  This little guy’s mom contacted me just before that window of time was over, and I made sure I had time in my schedule just for the reasons I mentioned before.  It’s such a special time, and I am always so honored to be asked to capture that time for a family.

To the H family…I hope you enjoy your images of your sweet little man and enjoy this time with him!

Last weekend, I had a great session with this senior guy. I’m sure spending a couple hours on a Saturday night with me is not on the top priority list for most high school guys, but he was a good sport, and I think we got some great images that will hopefully make his mom happy!

friendly neighbors

This family is so great.  They are our neighbors down the street, and while it is not THAT far away, I don’t really get down there much, but every time we are out or pass by them in our cars, we always get a smile and a wave.  Love that!  I had such a fun time with their session, and I am pretty sure we broke a record for the shortest family session in Everyday Art history.  Both kids were so cooperative!  Miss Avery is literally a fashion model.  She showed me her runway walk and everything, which I got the biggest kick out of.  Oh, and we’re both Justin Bieber fans, so we had that in common.  Little Abel is your typical 1 1/2 year old.  He was excited to be in a new place with all sorts of things to explore.  I just love his blue eyes!  Thanks, you guys, for letting me capture your family!
